It’s like in a big family. There are a favorite child and others who always stay in the shadows. Instagram is the favorite child in a big social media family. The owner of the Facebook (“Dad”) even decided to adopt it. And Pinterest, although it is very much loved by many people in fashion industry, is still ignored by marketers and online store owners.

Only a few of my clients use Pinterest to market their products. However, Pinterest works well not only to promote your brand and post an advertisement but also it is a great source of cheap traffic to your website. On top of that, you can launch an account for your online store and sell your product directly through Pinterest.

Do I have your attention? Let’s start from the beginning.

1.Pinterest is a visual board filled with things that interest your customer. The better you visualize your product, the more potential customers you are going to attract.

Pinterest is not only about posting your product photos, even though it is an important part of your account. But you also need to recreate your customers’ world, fill it with their interests, hobbies, lifestyle, values. Include everything that relates to your brand’s identity. The idea is to show your customers the lifestyle they desire and the visual aesthetics they appreciate and thus to build engagement with your brand.

Through visuals and images, you can build and share the story of your brand on Pinterest.  These are the accounts that manage to do that in my opinion:





2. Pinterest is like Google in pictures. Thus, key words are very important. You should include key words in all your boards, pins, photos to make sure that your target audience sees your pins.

For example, if a person is searching for kid’s clothes, your board, pins, and photos should include key words related to kid’s clothes, boy’s clothes, girl’s clothes, etc.

Through your pins you can attract visitors to your website.

It is even better if you have a blog on your website. Pin all your posts, and you will see traffic increase.

3. Running advertisement campaigns is easy too. Promote pins with your products and link them to your website.

Competition is lower; hence it is cheaper to run advertising on Pinterest than on Facebook or Instagram. But what is more important you reach your audience at the moment of their active search which means they are more willing to consider your brand for purchasing.

4.The best part is that you can sell directly through Pinterest. This feature is available if you are running your website on Shopify and BigCommerce platform.

The process is easy. These platforms are already integrated with Pinterest, so you only need to apply Buyable pins through Shopify or BigCommerce.

It may seem that Pinterest demands a lot of time and effort. It’s not true. You can spend one day creating your boards and pinning your photos and then just repin them with one of the available applications.  You will be surprised to see additional traffic and sales increase.
